Syncing rows

Overview

Syncing sheet rows eliminates the need for manually entering repeated data. If you have rows that share the same controls, tests, and other information, you can enable a 2-way sync. Any changes made to a row will automatically apply to any of its synced rows.

Before you begin

This article only covers syncing rows within the same sheet. If you want to read about shared columns and syncing rows across multiple sheets, see this article.

Check if a row is synced

When a row is synced, the sync icon 🔄 will be shown below the row key in the far left column. Hover over this symbol to display the rows that the current row is synced with.

Automatically sync duplicate rows

To sync automatically sync any identical rows in your sheet, navigate to Utilities > Sync duplicate rows.

Only rows with identical data (except for the Key column) will be synced.

Manually sync rows

Manually sync rows to overwrite a row with another row's data and keep them in sync.

  1. Click the Settings gear to the left of the row

  2. Click the sync icon 🔄

  3. Choose which row to overwrite and keep in sync with the current row

  4. Click Sync rows to confirm

Unsync a row

  1. Click the Settings gear to the left of the row

  2. Click the unsync icon 🔄

  3. Click Unsync row to confirm
