Agent trigger settings inheritance

Trigger configurations during engagement creation and rollover

When you create an engagement from a template, clone it, or roll over, trigger settings carry over alongside the sheets.

How settings carry over

Trigger settings are coupled to sheets. When sheets are included in a copy operation, all trigger configurations come with them. If sheets are not copied, trigger settings are not copied either, and the new engagement starts with no trigger settings configured.

  • Creating from a template: Trigger settings are always included. No extra steps are required.

  • Cloning: Trigger settings are always included. No extra steps are required.

  • Rolling over: Trigger settings are included when you select the Sheets option during the rollover setup. If you don't include sheets, trigger settings won't carry over. For details on how trigger settings carry over during rollover, see Engagement rollover.

If a trigger configuration references a sheet or agent that no longer exists, Fieldguide automatically removes that trigger configuration from the new engagement.

Limitation: Changes to templates don't propagate

Trigger settings are copied as a point-in-time snapshot. If you update trigger settings on a template after engagements have already been created from it, those changes are not automatically applied to existing engagements.

  • To update an existing engagement's trigger settings to match the current template, configure them manually on that engagement.

  • If rolling over the engagement again is an option, rolling over and selecting the updated template version will also bring in the latest trigger settings from the template.
