Overview
Frameworks are special objects in Fieldguide that represent the requirements or criteria in a compliance framework. They act as a building block that connects sheets, controls, and other elements inside Fieldguide.
Before you begin
It's important to make sure your frameworks are set up correctly before you begin an engagement.
Please contact [email protected] if you need help setting up a framework.
Create a framework
Go to Settings ⚙️ > Frameworks.
Click +Framework in the top right.
Name your framework, add a description (optional), and click Create Framework.
Next, add your sections by clicking +Section in the top right.
To add subsections to section, hover your cursor over a section to reveal the actions menu. Click the + sign to add a subsection.
Sections and subsections can't be imported.
Add controls to a framework
To add controls to a framework, you can prepare an import file in Excel.
Download the template
Open the dropdown in the top-right and click Import Controls.
Click Download template.
Open the template in Excel.
Prepare the import file
Each control you want to add to the framework should be included as a row in your import file. The import file contains columns for the control's section, control key, control activity, tags, and control owners. See below for more information on populating the import file.
Don't change any column headers in the Excel file. This may prevent the import from working correctly.
Column A: Section
This represents the control's mapping. This is the framework section header that the row will be added under. Make sure the section name exactly matches what you see in the template. You can add additional rows, if needed.
If your section headers include commas as part of their name, your framework controls import may run into issues parsing the import file. Contact our support team if you need help with importing controls into a framework whose sections contain commas.
Column B: Control key
Control keys are unique numbers used to identify controls in your Controls library.
Column C: Control activity
Add the control language here.
Column D: Tags (optional)
If you'd like to add control tags to the controls you're importing, add them comma-separated in this column. The tags will not display in the framework, but they will display on your controls in the library.
Example import file
Using the template below as an example, if there are 5 controls that need to be added to section ID.AM, you’d add 4 blank lines below the current section ID.AM line. Then add ID.AM in the sections column. Next, add one control on each row.
Complete the import
Save your populated import file.
In your framework, open the dropdown in the top-right and click Import Controls.
Click Upload CSV or XLSX and upload your import file.
