Control Owners and Tags enable easy management of large sets of controls.
Control Owners allow you to assign one or more "owners" to a Control.
If you have Client Member users, you can assign them as a Control Owner, which will provide them with access only to the Controls they are assigned.
Control Tags allow you to assign any number of tags to a Control. This is most useful for categorization purposes.
Many companies use tags to mark certain controls as "key controls" or use them to identify controls that relate to a data subprocessor, just to give a couple examples.
Companies who perform multiple audits of the same type (for example, multiple SOC 1s and multiple SOC 2s per year), use tags to identify which audit a control will be used in.
The Control Library can be filtered on Control Owners and Tags by clicking the "filter" icon:
