Using reference files

Reference a document in multiple places

Overview

Reference files make it easy to link the same file in multiple places. Instead of uploading the same file multiple times, create a reference file to add a document to multiple folders.

This means the file will display in multiple places, but the actual file only exists in your engagement documents one time (in the original place it was added).

Add a reference file

  1. In the Documents folder, click +New > Reference files. This can be done from the Documents tab or a sheet row's Documents column.

  2. Select the engagement that the original file in, then select the file.

Reference files have an arrow icon next to their name:

View reference file locations

You can see the location of the parent document and any reference files in the document's File Information menu.
