Overview
To create requests in bulk, you can prepare a CSV file and import it into your engagement.
Steps
Open the Requests tab in your engagement.
In the top-right corner, open the 3-dots menu and click Import Requests.
Click Download template. Open the template in Excel and populate it with your requests. See here for tips on setting up the import file. Save your file.
Return to the Import Requests menu in Fieldguide. If your requests contain sheet row mappings, select the sheet name in the dropdown. Otherwise, select "None" from the dropdown.
Click Upload CSV or XLSX and select the import file from your computer.
Review the dialog box to confirm the number of imported requests, then click Import Requests to complete the import.
Populating the import file
Use the template provided by Fieldguide to create a CSV file with the requests. Every row underneath the header in the CSV represents a unique request. For the import to work correctly:
The first line of your CSV file must be the column headers specified in the template provided by Fieldguide.
Every row must have a value in the required columns. See below for information on the columns in the CSV.
You can use this sample CSV as a reference.
Description of the columns in the CSV file
Column | Description |
Sheet Row Key (optional) | The sheet rows that the request should be mapped to (comma-separated).
All sheet row mappings in your import file must belong to the same sheet. If you need to add mappings for multiple sheets, repeat the import process for each additional sheet. |
Request Title (required) | Name of the request. |
Request Description (required) | Description of the request. |
Request ID (optional) | A unique ID number for the request. |
Date Requested (optional) | Date request was added. |
Date Due (optional) | Date request is due. |
Tags (comma separated) (optional) | Tags used to label the request. |
Troubleshooting
If there are any problems with your request import CSV file, you’ll see the number of rows with warnings displayed in the confirmation menu. Click the warnings button to view a preview of your import data.
Rows with warnings are highlighted in yellow. Hover over the warning symbol
to see a description of the warning.
Warning: Unable to add request to row
The warning Unable to add request to row occurs when Fieldguide is unable to find one or more of the sheet rows you've entered for a request. Here are some common reasons for this warning:
Your Fieldguide sheet doesn't contain a row with this key. Make sure that any sheet rows you entered in the Sheet Row Key column of your CSV file already exist in the sheet you're importing these requests into.
The sheet you selected in the Import requests menu is incorrect. Make sure that you select the correct sheet from the dropdown before you upload your CSV file.
Incorrect formatting in your CSV. If you have multiple sheet row keys listed for this request in your CSV, make sure they are separated by commas instead of line breaks.
