The Fieldguide MCP server lets users in your firm ask Claude Enterprise to find and work with their Fieldguide data. MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, a standard that lets AI tools connect to other systems.
⠀
A System Admin enables the integration in Fieldguide, and a Claude Enterprise admin adds it to your organization. Each user then connects their own Fieldguide account.
⠀
Before you begin
To set up the connection, make sure you have the following:
The Fieldguide MCP available for your firm. If Fieldguide MCP doesn't appear under Integrations in your Fieldguide settings, contact Fieldguide Support.
A Fieldguide account with the System Admin role, to enable the integration and select its scopes.
A Claude Enterprise admin account, to add the connector to your organization.
For each user, a Fieldguide account and a Claude account in your organization.
⠀
Step 1: Enable Claude Enterprise in Fieldguide
A Fieldguide System Admin completes this step. To enable the Claude Enterprise integration and choose what Claude can access, follow these steps:
In Fieldguide, go to Settings > Integrations > Fieldguide MCP.
On the Available tab, find the Claude Enterprise card and click Enable. Fieldguide opens the Enable Claude Enterprise dialog.
Under Select scopes, select the scopes that Claude can access. For what scopes are and how to choose them, see Scopes in Set up and use the Fieldguide MCP. You must select at least one scope. To select every scope, click Select all.
Click Enable. Fieldguide enables the integration and opens the Connect Claude Enterprise dialog.
Enabling the integration doesn't connect Claude to Fieldguide yet. You complete the connection in the next steps.
⠀
Step 2: Copy the MCP URL
The Connect Claude Enterprise dialog shows the MCP URL for your firm. To copy it, follow these steps:
In the Connect Claude Enterprise dialog, copy the MCP URL.
Keep the URL available for the next step. If a different person completes step 3, send them the URL.
⠀
Step 3: Add the connector in Claude Enterprise
A Claude Enterprise admin completes this step, using the MCP URL from step 2. To add Fieldguide as a custom connector for your organization and accept the authentication settings that Claude detects, follow these steps (or see Claude's instructions Add a connector that isn't in the directory):
In Claude, go to Organization settings > Connectors, click Add, and select Custom. Claude opens the Add custom connector dialog.
In Name, enter a name for the connector, such as
Fieldguide MCP.In MCP server URL, paste the URL that you copied from Fieldguide, and continue. Claude shows the authentication options for the connector and labels the settings that the Fieldguide MCP server supports as Detected.
Under Authentication, confirm that Sign in now is selected.
Under OAuth client, confirm that Use Claude's published identity is selected.
Add the connector. Claude adds it to your organization.
After you add the connector, it appears for the members of your organization under Customize > Connectors, labeled Custom. Adding the connector doesn't connect anyone's Fieldguide account. Each user connects their own account, as described in Connect your Fieldguide account and use it in Claude below.
⠀
Step 4: Test the connection
A Claude Enterprise admin completes this step to confirm that the connector works before sharing it with users. To test the connection, connect your own Fieldguide account and send a test prompt, following the steps in Connect your Fieldguide account and use it in Claude below.
⠀
Connect your Fieldguide account and use it in Claude
After a Claude Enterprise admin adds the Fieldguide connector, each user connects their own Fieldguide account. Claude then uses the Fieldguide data that your account can access. To connect your account and confirm that it works, follow these steps:
In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors, select the Fieldguide connector that your admin added, and click Connect. Claude opens a browser window.
In the browser window, follow the prompts to sign in to Fieldguide.
Return to Claude. Claude shows a message that you're connected to the connector.
Start a new chat. If the Fieldguide connector isn't enabled for the chat, enable it.
Enter a question about your Fieldguide data, such as
How many engagements do I have?, and press Enter. Claude uses the Fieldguide connector to answer using data from Fieldguide.
For more example prompts, and for guidance on prompts that post comments or create engagements, see Set up and use the Fieldguide MCP.
Troubleshoot setup
If you can't complete a step, try the following:
You can't add the custom connector in Claude: Ask your Claude Enterprise admin to add the connector for your organization.
Claude doesn't use Fieldguide in a chat: Confirm that you completed the steps in Connect your Fieldguide account and use it in Claude and that the Fieldguide connector is enabled for the chat.
